And here I was, thinking that my almost-finished novel—THE CLIMB, about a young man (Skyler) shunned by his church and family—wouldn’t resonate that much anymore today—and then this happens: A young man, Dylan Settles 18, receives a letter from his church that excommunicates him because he’s gay.
